St. Andrew Chaplet Giveaway!

I apologize for the brevity of this giveaway. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to pull it together with the new baby, but here it is! It will be short-- you will have only 6 days to enter (actually 5 days because I will pick a winner on Tuesday morning).  All you have to do is leave a comment about what you (and your family) are doing to spiritually prepare for Christmas this advent season.  Make sure to leave your email address if you leave an anonymous comment so I can reach you.

On Tuesday, November 23, I will pick a winner  and hopefully have the chaplet shipped in time for the St. Andrew's feast day (the start of the novena).  Make sure to check back on Tuesday so you can give me your address in case you win. I will ship it out via Priority (2-3 day mail) if you live in the U.S. .  If you live in a different country, the chaplet will not arrive in time, but you can still enter to win :)

For more information about this chaplet, please visit my website.  Good Luck!

What a wonderful giveaway! I think this year we're just doing an advent wreath and doing our best to avoid all the trappings of Christmas until it actually is Christmas.

We'll be doing a Jesse Tree for the first time. I think I'm also going to introduce a cradle for baby Jesus that the kids will fill with straw (paper strips) that list good deeds they did for others. We will also have an advent wreath and will read stories about the real meaning of Christmas as we count down the days until Christmas day.

Oh, that is one of my favorite novenas....You are amazing!

Oh, oops, I forgot to tell what we do spiritually to prepare....well, what don't we do? There is so much, there's just not enough days in Advent to do it all!!

(is that good enough?)

We will start it with Confession and Adoration. I love taking the kiddos to Adoration, each one separate, of course the amount of time goes down with their age.

Books, crafts, good deeds, sacrifices, novenas Prayers, etc....lots of countdowns, lots of feast days!

That is a wonderful give away! During advent, we have special daily spiritual reading that we do, books that we read, our Jesse tree, and our advent wreath. Thanks for offering this! Congratulations on you darling baby!

We will be doing the Jesse Tree for our second time, Family Bible Studies-reading kids bible story books with activities, adding a straw to the manger for every good deed, and Mommy and Daddy to confession! And... listening to "true" Christmas music that reflects our faith. Right now on my blog I am listening to "Mary's Boy Child-Oh My Lord"-by Boney M.-LOVE this song it talks about the true meaning of Christmas with an island flare!:)

What a lovely Chaplet! How nice of you to do a give away!

I hope you and your baby are well, my congratulations to you. I will spend Advent in preparation for the birth of Jesus into this world and thanking him for his love and mercy.

Congrats on the little one!

We'll be doing a wreath, Jesse tree and Nativity scene at least. I love to sing the O Antiphons, too, but often forget about them when their time comes.

At work, we do a Jesse tree every year. At home, we have an Advent wreath and different nativity scenes everywhere -- in the yard and one in almost every room.

My children are all grown, but I have continued the Advent Wreath and a huge wall hanging Advent Calender that I made almost 40 years ago when my first child was born. I use it still for my 84 year old mother. She lives with me and is suffering with late term Alzheimer's.We did it last year and she loved it.:0)

Since Lucia is 3 this is the first year she understands Christmas. I am going to put up a big nativity scene, and have her help me, and I am going to do an advent calender with her. I also wanted to celebrate St. Nicholas's feast day. Mark and I are going start early to make sure Baby Jesus overshadows Santa Clause.

Well, since Gracie is so young and I will have a BRAND NEW baby, I dont think we will do anything too complicated, but I do like the idea of an Advent Calendar, St. Nicholas celebration (celebration of our Dutch ancestry too), and an overall focus on BABY JESUS as opposed to Santa Clause overload...

I have written in different colored pens all the names of those I love who have died. I have added little pictures and doodles etc. I will pray everynight that all their souls go to heaven and remember a little about each one as I read off their names. I end with.. Dear Jesus pls lead all souls to heaven especially those most in need of thy mercey.

I forgot to leave my email address-3lipps@cox.net Also, I want to add (after reading the others), we also do an advent wreath that sits upon our kitchen table. Our church bulletin usually has weekly prayers that go along with lighting each candle so we say the prayers together at the table.

This is a great giveaway. My family and I are working at a soup kitchen this Advent season.

We are doing the advent wreath, adding advent themes into our family prayer and catechesis... and I'm determined to slow it down as much as possible, take time for prayer. Maybe I'll say a novena! ;)

Beautiful work.

Janie said...

We take out our Advent wreath, read scripture, go to confession, and take time for more prayer!

Love this giveaway! I just ordered one of your chaplets for my sister-in-law but I have SOO many more friends who are pregnant, trying to conceive or recently conceived after miscarriage that I need to pray for! :)

This will be our second advent with a Jesse tree, and last year the kids really enjoyed having a cup of hot cocoa every evening while we read the bible story and put up the Jesse tree ornament. We also have a little wooden manger and a pile of straw- the kids get to place a piece of straw for every good/kind deed so that by Christmas when we place the baby Jesus doll in the manger he has a nice soft bed instead of a cold wooden one. We also have several "play" nativity sets and one nice fontanini one we are slowly adding to (NOT for play :) We use old Christmas card fronts to cut up and make/decorate new Christmas cards to bring to a nearby nursing home, we light the Advent wreath, we have a special basket of children's Christmas/advent books that comes out only during Advent, and we have the Advent countdown calendar with little doors.

Sarah, What a clever frame you added to the St Andrew medal. It matches the beads so neatly, and is such a cool design element! Great idea!

We are doing a Jesse Tree again this year. I've been teaching the Old Testament stories to my eldest child, so it will take on more meaning this year.

This year we're having an advent wreath, a Jesse Tree, and we're going to put the nativity set out in stages :-)

Really? FUN!! Please enter us. I hadn't heard of the Saint Andrew Chaplet until I read about it here a little while ago. Since my husband is named Andrew, I would like our family to start praying it every year. This year we are doing an Advent retreat with our parish where they will teach us about the Jesse Tree (which I've heard about, never used) and send us home with one! How fun!

This Advent we're going to do a novena (along with my children)and dedicate each day for a specific intention: for the poor on one day, for the end of abortion on another day, for families in financial difficulties who can't afford a Christmas and so on. We will then end it with the Memore. I want to keep it simple for the kids but also teach them why we celebrate Christmas.

Wow, I'd love to give this to my son, Andrew, on his feast day this year. We are also doing a Jesse tree this year as we toiled all last advent making the ornaments...looking forward to enjoying them this year.

To keep "Christ" in Christmas we are printing the Gospel of the Incarnation on paper, then cutting the edges into snowflake designs and adding a red ribbon hanger. We'll give them out to everyone at Church on Christmas, so the "Word" is in every home.... for years to come.
We're also planning to say a Chaplet of Divine Mercy daily.

I ordered an advent calender that is a nativity picture and every day the kids can add one thing to it. We also have a nice nativity set that we set up.

I will be writing a poem to include in Christmas cards. This year the theme will be Jesus looking down from the cross into the crib at His birth. If our life flashes before our eyes at our death, maybe this happened with Him.

Confession and Holy Mass will strengthen the wait until His coming. I hope to meet Him at Christmas with a pure heart.

Best wishes for a Holy Advent to all!

We alway do a Jesse Tree with the Biblical readings, even the older kids look forward to it. Also light the Advent wreath and read additional reflections through Advent. Also discussions about preparing and penance even in this very hectic season.

My family will spend Advent this year mourning my mom, my four son's Grammy, but we will praise our Saviour for giving us faith and hope. We know she is heaven and, as my 5-year-old says, "in my heart." Thank you for considering us. God bless. - Carolyn Kolega
