Spilled Beads

You'd think I would have learned my lesson by now that if toddler is quietly playing in the next room, trouble is ensuing.  Maybe it's the moment of stillness that I want to relish that makes me think I can ignore the ominous clouds that are about to spoil my peace.  This time, no moment of peace was worth the trouble of three boxes of neatly organized beads that were dumped on my basement floor by this boy.

But you should have seen the look on his face when he saw me. He knew it was bad and he was going to going to savor every last minute of trouble as he could. He immediately starts squealing in joy and kicking around beads on all fours.

Then he starts to feel remorseful and puts them back into the boxes. What a great helper..NOT! He even puts the beads in the nearby drawers and other random boxes. Then for his finale, he swims through the beads because one can never get enough coverage just sitting on top of them. You really need to lay down and roll around for maximum mess.

I've come to the conclusion that when it comes to messes, this guy is a profession. I had to take a picture in admiration of his stunning talent. Then he went down for a nap- thank you, Jesus.

cutie! cutie! Cutie!

And I love that you labeled this "trouble."

A well-told family story. I had the same moments of quiet when our Trouble was 2. He was "napping" in his room. So I went to my room and laid down with a gardening mag.

Nice, peaceful parenting moment.

Then I hear frantic pounding on our front door.

Seems Trouble had unlocked his bedroom window, punched out the window guard and screen and was sitting on the roof above our front porch.

All was well. He scrambled back into the room when he heard the pounding of the neighbor across the street.

I don't have a picture, but we have told the story so many times, it is a cautionary tale engraved in all our memories!

Do I ever remember those days! Seemed I paid for many a quiet moment. Allison, too funny...now.

Great story, Allison! That makes me feel a little better ;-)

I'm glad to see you and Julie can identify!

I know those moments all to well...sometimes, I find myself pausing to make a value judgement...it is peaceful and the havoc is already wrought...should I interrupt and discipline now or enjoy the peace for a while and then gear up for the disciplining and cleaning...it depends on the day that am having... ;-)

Your son looks so sweet as he playing with his mess! I see he understands the importance of putting in 100% effort in his tasks!

Jennifer has now offered a giveaway of her game Journey's End if you're interested. She's doing it on my blog.

Ha ha - I regularly drop by here, but this one made me come out of the woodwork to chuckle aloud with you ladies.

What a CUTIE! Sorry for the mess, but what an adorable moment!!! :) Blessed be the lucky ladies who score rosaries / chaplets with the beads he so lovingly shared himself with. Ha ha ha!
