If At First You Don't Succeed...

It's a bad day for Clay Rosary Girl. Current Mood: disgusted. Sometimes, despite my best efforts, my clay doesn't cooperate and things like this happen.
Things started out really good. I was remaking the host and chalice bead like I've done many times before.
The shapes were great, but this white clay I used was rock hard. Sometimes, for whatever reason, the clay I buy is very hard. Usable, but hard.  This time, it was just the white. I should have tossed it and used different clay while I still had the chance...my frugality was my downfall...
Isn't she beautiful? The finished bead just like I've done many times before... except that the green clay was super soft and that white clay was rock hard.  I should have known this would happen...
Oh, Sadness! That white clay didn't want to budge, but everything else did, so this is what I got.
What a waste! Back to work for me.
I'm sure there's a lesson in all of this. Maybe this demotivation poster will help me see it.
The journey of a thousand miles sometimes ends very, very badly.

WELL, that puts it all in perspective. Sometimes, it's better just to laugh it off!

I'm sorry to hear that, i can understand how it would really stink if the bead doesn't turn out, i have watched you do it and it is not a fast process.
keep your head up, :)

Tina

Lol! That's exactly the kind of thing I would do! Wonder if you could have sliced the chalice off the bottom and made some usable beads with just the hosts. Get rid of the rest of that white clay! ;-)

Do not fret!! Your First Communion Bracelets and Chaplets were a hit for the 40 some children at my daughter's celebration Saturday. The children and adults alike pored over the beads and were amazed at your handiwork. Now here's the question: How exactly does one pray a chaplet?? I was not too certain and I told the boys I would write you for clear direction. One boy asked if it can be used as a Divine Mercy chaplet with those prayers. Please advise. And thank you for touching the faith journey of so very many people this weekend Sarah. Pax Christi. PS: can you put the answer in your Q&A so I can direct the many people who want to know?

Mujerlatina,
I will put that question in Q and A. I've always understood that a rosary chaplet is prayed the same way you pray a rosary- you just have to use the same 10 beads, five times. I guess it's just more convenient to carry around a chaplet, than an entire rosary.
I am so glad everyone liked their chaplets and bracelets and I hope everything went well. I'd love to hear how your daughter enjoyed her First Holy Communion. God Bless!
